Die letzte Szene spiegelt in nuce den gesamten Film wider. Der Eindruck, der dabei entsteht, ist pure Ambivalenz! Die Szene irritiert und fasziniert. Das bleibt deshalb auch in meinem Text nicht unbemerkt.
In der letzten Einstellung läuft das melancholische Mädchen essend von rechts in die Mitte des Bildschirms. Ihre Schritte werden tänzelnder, mal macht sie sich klein, immer ist sie irgendwie in Bewegung und verdrückt ein Kugeleis.
Die Szenerie wird von Möwenrufen eingeleitet, die von Ambient-Techno-Synthies untermalt werden. Im Vordergrund hebt sich die Laufende ab, sodass auch die Palme der Hintergrundtapete irgendwann mitschwingt.
„Eine Hymne auf die Gesellschaft“?
Das Bild wird zunehmend bunt, bemustert, alles bewegt sich, Percussion und Big Band mischen sich in die Klangkulisse, der Hintergrund, auf dem sich Kokosnussmuster in Orange abzeichnen, verwischt und Diskolichteffekte bereiten ein Bild vor, das sie durchbrechen: Hinter- und Vordergrund werden wechselseitig transparent und verschieben sich, sodass die Sicht teils an die eines Betrunkenen oder Kurzsichtigen erinnert. Das Mädchen wird so zu tausend essenden Versionen von sich – wie ein pastellener Schatten ihrer Bewegungen.
Alles bewegt sich, auch die Pixel beginnen, sich zu drehen, die Farbe zu wechseln und zu kunstförmig arrangierten ‚Ameisenhaufen‘ zu werden.
Das Mädchen läuft vor dem Pixelspektakel weiter und irgendwann, wenn melancholische Mädchen eben weiterziehen, aus dem linken Bildschirmrand heraus.
Ein erster Eindruck ist daher: Befreiung pur! Nicht nur, dass das Mädchen vor sich hin geht – ohne Ziel und Grund –, ihre Bewegungen werden mal ausladender, vor allem aber freier – losgelöst von irgendwelchen Formzwängen und Idealen. Das mag der*die ein oder andere deshalb befremdlich oder gar lächerlich finden.
Musik & Konsum
Gleichzeitig, wenn auch nur kurz, fragt man sich jedoch: Ist mein Fernseher kaputt? Wie das melancholische Mädchen nur Sekunden vorher ankündigt,
„Solange ich warte, kann ich meine aufgekratzte Seele mit ein bisschen Konsum beruhigen.“
Das melancholische Mädchen
begleiten wir, Zuschauende, das Bildspiel und spiegeln das Verhalten des Mädchens: Während wir ungeniert konsumieren, fragen wir uns, ob wir dies auch weiterhin können – eben auf dem sich gerade in Benutzung befindenden Endgerät.
Die Ambientsounds und die effektverstärkte Musik erzeugen eine Weite des Raums, der als Kulisse gar nicht vorhanden ist. Sie symbolisieren Weite und markieren doch die Leere des vorgeführten ‚Strands‘. Sogar das Gehen ohne Ziel und Grund verbildlicht gleichsam die ‚universelle Floskel‘ des Antriebs: Weiter! Diese wird visuell in einem ‚Laufbandmodus‘ sowie musikalisch in Peitschensamples aufgegriffen.
Unterscheidet sich das Mädchen durch ihre Melancholie zuletzt auch nicht von der Gesellschaft?
Ein nächster Eindruck: Sie, so wie wir, ist Sklave des Systems Konsum. Die Konsequenz erscheint da beinahe logisch, wenn das Filmbild in sich zusammenfällt. So werden die Schatten der Protagonistin zu Facetten ihrer Fassade, zur reinen Gleichförmigkeit. Die verzögerten Verschiebungen, die sie nebeneinander vervielfachen, wird zur vorab im Film besungenen Choreografie:
„Ich imitier‘ mich selbst.“
Das melancholische Mädchen
Allerdings kreieren die flackernden Pixel und einbrechenden Klänge eine unkonventionelle Bildsprache und brechen mit einer vertrauten Filmästhetik sowie den Sehgewohnheiten. Auch wenn man gerade beim Anblick der langsam auseinanderbrechenden Szenerie normalerweise von Fehlern beim Abspielgerät oder Datenträger ausgehen würde; zeichnet sich u.a. das Wiegen der Palme vor dem Wallpaperhintergrund wie etwa Pinselstriche auf einem Acrylgemälde ab.
Kreative Filmkunst als Befreiung
Ein Fest der Dysfunktionalität! Im Film wird ‚Unnormales‘ nicht verbannt, sondern gerade auch dieses präsentiert: Was man vielleicht von Röhrenfernsehern als Bildversagen kennt, wird hier zur Neuschöpfung in der Kunst: Aus alt mach neu! Film kann eben kreativ und unerwartet sein.
So wie die Melancholie des Mädchens Symptome der Gesellschaft kontrastiert und damit verdeutlicht, führt auch die Bildlandschaft ein Bewusstsein herbei: Sie unterläuft die Logik einer klassischen (Film-)Emersion, indem sie sie transparent macht: Dem bereits als Wandbild aus der ersten Filmszene bekannten Hintergrund werden nach und nach Musik, Farbe, Licht, Effekt- und Animationstechnik zugefügt – von der bloßen Oberfläche zur vorgestellten Tiefe und Weite.
Hier zeigt sich die Befreiung durch und durch – auf und vor dem Bildschirm!

Thanks for sharing. Really interesting. I think the ideas are there. Incubators are needed to help connect with capital/funding, and help commercialize from a Supply, R&D, Go-to-Market pov. I do think the biggest issue is a cultural one. Successful Food FMCGs move very fast and relentlessly innovate their portfolio, go to market strategy etc. A lot of the old/big money in Pakistan prefers businesses that can run on auto pilot vs. businesses that require constant innovation/hustle.
